The HERO
Program is a school-wide positive behavior support system that seeks to achieve
the following:
- Improve the social
behavioral climate of school
- Support and enhance the
impact of academic instruction
- Increase proactive,
positive, preventive management while decreasing reactive management
- Improve the overall
school experience for ALL students
- Provide opportunities
for student to share experiences and feedback
- Streamline
communication through common language and expectations
The HERO
Program also includes monthly classroom lessons that have been developed by our
guidance department to support the goals outlined above, as well as facilitate
classroom meetings.
Each full week
of school, teachers will name 1 student from their classroom as their “HERO of
the Week.”All students name HERO of the
week will be announced on Bee TV and have their picture taken, which will be
displayed in the HERO showcase outside of the office. Additionally,an administrator will make a positive phone call home for all HERO of
the week students.
Here are some
examples of behaviors/qualities that could earn a student the title of HERO of
the Week:
- Honesty—Being a person people can trust.
- Kindness/Caring—Being kind to others, express gratitude, help
others
- Respect—Treating others as you want to be treated.
- Responsibility—Doing what you are supposed to do.
- Fair Play/Sportsmanship—Playing fair and being a good sport on
the playground or in Physical Education class. Being both respectful in victory
and defeat.
- Hard Work—Improving grades, making improvements in class toward
a goal.
