Introduction
The Peters Township School District recognizes that assessment and evaluation of student performance assists students, teachers, and parents to monitor student progress in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills. The process of evaluating student performance must be based on clearly defined evaluation criteria aligned to the District’s curricular objectives. It must be valid, accurate, and reliable. Student performance will also be benchmarked against the Pennsylvania Core Standards.
Standardized Testing
Through the use of standardized testing, the Peters Township School District is able to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of its curriculum. Currently, all students in grades 3 – 8 are assessed in English Language Arts and Mathematics using the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) tests. Additionally, students in grades 4 and 8 take the PSSA science test. The Keystone Exams are end of course assessments administered to students at the completion of Algebra, Biology, and 10th Grade Literature. These exams are given at the Middle School and High School. The Testing Calendar is provided on the District Home
Page.
