portion of Washington County, Pennsylvania. Located 17 miles south of
Pittsburgh, the Township has a blend of luxury estates, townhouses,
single family homes, and farmhouses. The small villages of McMurray and
Venetia are included within the Township's 20 square miles of land. In
addition to offering residents one of the top school districts in
Pennsylvania, Peters Township residents enjoy a full-service library, a
community center, superior recreational facilities, scenic walking
trails and parks.
The municipality of Peters Township and the Peters
Township School District share several joint ventures including
District-nominated representatives to the Township's Parks and
Recreation Board and the Cable TV Board in addition to sharing equipment
and facilities for the Channel 7 Public Access Cable Television Studio.

Involvement in Our Schools
The Peters Township School District welcomes community
involvement in our schools and also promotes service to community
through the Character Counts! Initiative, Parent-Teacher Association
programs, various curriculum projects, and joint ventures with the
municipality.
Parent-Teacher Association
The PTA is an active, positive influence in each of our
schools. Under the umbrella of the PTA Area Council, the building level
PTAs strive to facilitate a closer relationship between home and school,
uniting parents and educators to promote the education and welfare of
our youth. The PTAs offer education workshops, volunteer services,
provide monthly newsletters, after school classes, and participation in
the National PTA Reflections cultural arts program. In addition, the PTA
Area Council sponsors workshops, prints a district-wide student and
staff directory, organizes student school pictures, provides
scholarships for high school seniors and meets with the Administration.

Character Counts!
The Peters Township School District is the centerpiece of a
community-based character building initiative known as Peters Township
Character Counts (PTCC). PTCC is a collaboration of many community
groups including the Chamber of Commerce, Municipal Government, Rotary,
Ministerium and PTAs. This initiative has been the catalyst behind many
inspirational and educational programs and philosophical changes in the
community. The increased attention to character and sportsmanship in
youth and interscholastic sports is among the most visible evidence of
the initiative.
