    Peters Township School District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

    The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

  • The PA School Boards Association has provided informative resources on Charter School funding reform. The links below detail how this funding currently works and the challenges it creates for public schools. Below you will also find a summary of the issues surrounding charter reform and how it impacts Peters Township:

    • Peters Township School District supports the Governor’s Cyber Charter Reform that sets a statewide base cyber tuition rate of $8000.00 per year.  This would align Cyber tuition with the actual expenses of providing an online education. The reform is estimated to save school districts $378 million annually. In 2022-23, Peters Township School District paid a total of $1,165,749 in tuition payments to Cyber Charter Schools. The proposed flat rate would save the District an estimated $202,334 per year.
    • In addition, we support the initiative to reform Special Education payments to Charter Schools. The state's current method of determining special education payments to charter schools is outdated, inconsistent, and results in significant overpayments to charter schools. We are asking that the General Assembly enact legislation that applies tiered special education funding for charter schools in the same manner as it did for school districts.
