Reminders:

**Don't forget to return your library books each week on your library day. You won't be able to check out new ones until your books are returned. (Check our Canvas course or with your homeroom teacher for your Library day.)
** Need to renew your books? No problem! You don't even need to bring the books with you! Just let Mrs.Briegel know when you come up to check out your books.
**Use a CAT Slip (located in the library, on Canvas, or in your homeroom) to write down the call number of a book you would like to find. Bring that slip with you to class, and we can locate the books quickly!

Bee a Reader in the BHLMC!
The Bower Hill Library Media Center (BHLMC) is open daily to all students and staff, and is a bustling hive of activity and the heart of the school. Students will visit the library to attend their weekly 30-minute library class, and will be able to check out library books on their own each week.

Appreciation for Literature and Information Literacy
Each week, students will meet with Mrs. Keffel, our library media specialist, for 30 minutes to develop an appreciation for various literary genres, become familiar with noted authors and illustrators, research various topics of interest, utilize the electronic library catalog, use technology effectively and efficiently, learn socio-emotional learning strategies and tips, and examine educational databases. Weekly lessons can include a read aloud story, an information literacy objective, and games and activities that focus on the skill or topic for that week. Mindful movement and brain breaks are also a part of the fun! Mrs. Keffel will also collaborate with teachers and staff for additional student enrichment and remediation.

Special Programs

Birthday Book Program

Parents and friends are invited to purchase a library book in honor of their child's birthday that will then become a part of the permanent collection in the BHLMC.  Students who participate in the program are recognized on BTV. A bookplate is placed in the book that they choose, and they will be the first student at Bower Hill to check out their birthday book.
