Food Service Home

Peters Township has partnered with PaySchools Central Point of Service System to provide accurate online school meal accounts. You can visit Pay Schools Central and simply select REGISTER to follow the instructions to create your account. You will receive an email from PaySchools to confirm your new account and set up your login credentials, payments and other account preferences. Please note that you will need your child's school ID# to create the account. This may be found in PowerSchool (it is listed above the Bus Info tab in the left navigation.)  You may also download the PaySchools Central App on your phone for convenient access. Note that fees may apply when completing transactions online.

All parents of students wishing to purchase lunch will need to create a new account. All balances left over from the previous year will roll over to the new school year.

Account Fees: Note that there will be a transaction fee when adding funds to the account online. Each child in your family can be set up on the same account therefore you can add money to each child's account during the same transaction. Once the money is put on the account, it typically appears on the account in about 30 minutes. Fee details may be found in the PaySchools Quick Reference below. Families who wish to avoid fees, may send cash or check made payable to Peters Township Food Service with your child's name and student ID in the memo. Funds will be accepted by the Food Service staff in the cafeteria for grades 6-12. Elementary students may submit checks to their child's homeroom teacher or the main office at their school. 

Account Balance: Throughout the year, parents may find their accurate lunch account balance by logging on to Pay Schools Central. Balance information is also provided in a student's PowerSchool account, but may not accurately reflect the most

In conjunction with the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, the Peters Township School District Food Service Department is required to obtain a physician signed form for all students with food-based allergies. The new form will ensure that your child’s allergy needs are recorded and on file with the Food Service Department. Please note that this form is in addition to the medication form that you may have completed if you child has an epi-pen or other medication in the school nurse’s office.

The completed form should be returned to the Food Service Department in the District Administration Building at 631 East McMurray Road, McMurray, PA 15317. Completed forms may also be faxed to 724-941-6565. The form can be downloaded below.

The District also provides a free and reduced price lunch program. Guidelines and information on these programs are available at the building principal's office and on the school web site in pdf format. Please note that applications must be completed annually for the program. Visit Lunch Program

Applications may be submitted any time during the school year. Information requested on the application will be used only to determine eligibility. Parents may also visit WhyHunger for information about the availability and location of free meals for students via the Summer Food Service Program.

District Lunch Program Policy
Under the provisions of the policy, a district employee will review applications and determine eligibility. If a parent is dissatisfied with the ruling, he or she may request a hearing by contacting the Business Manager.

The policy also provides that there will be no identification or discrimination against any child because of race, religion, sex, color, national origin or inability to pay the full price for a meal or milk. Where can I find menus?

A copy of the menu can be accessed through your child’s school website, click on the building menus. 

What does a full meal include?

Lunch menus include entrée choices ranging from hot feature items, grill favorites, hearty salads, and sandwiches that provide meat/meat alternates and grains plus milk, fruits and vegetable sides. 

Of the 5 components offered, students MUST take at least 1/2 cup of fruit/juice OR vegetable and a minimum of 2 other foods for a reimbursable meal.

Is all the food served peanut free? 

Yes, the food served is peanut free and prepared in a peanut-free environment.

Is breakfast available for my child? 

Breakfast is only available at the High School a la carte.

Can I pay for my child’s lunch online? 

Money can be added to your child’s account at any time by sending in an envelope with cash or check made out to “PTFS.” Your child should give this envelope to the lunch cashier before school. Payment can also be made online at PaySchoolsCentral . More information is available on this website.

How can I find out what my balance is in my child’s account and his or her purchase history?

The easiest way is to create a PaySchools Central account . Your child’s purchase history is available one day after the account has been created. This site will even enable you set “low balance reminders” that will generate an email to you when your child’s account falls below your preset amount. 

What happens if my child forgets his or her lunch? 

If your son or daughter happens to forget their lunch from home, they may choose from the meal plan and you will subsequently be charged. You may call the Food Service Department as well (724) 941-6251 x 7226.

My family qualified for free/reduced-priced meals last year. Do I need to do anything for this school year? 

Yes, every year a new application needs to be completed. Students are grandfathered in from last year for the first 30 calendar days of the school year. You can access an application under the Lunch Program link.
