This spring, the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) will be given to students in the Peters Township School District and throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Students in grades 3-8 will take this assessment. The results of these assessments serve as a valuable tool to you and the District in a number of ways. They inform you of your child’s level of proficiency in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, and science. These results also assist your child’s teachers in designing lessons that meet your child’s needs. Additionally, they provide on-going data that is used to develop curriculum and design professional development for staff.
Your child cannot study for the assessments, but can prepare by getting plenty of rest the night before the tests and eating a healthy breakfast on the morning of the tests. Since this information is used to design your child’s future instruction, the District requests that you stress to your child the importance of doing his or her very best on the assessment.
Parents have the right to excuse their child from the state assessment if, upon inspection of testing materials, they find the assessment to be in conflict with their religious beliefs. If you have any questions concerning the assessment, please contact one of the building principals no later than April 18, 2023 so that you can set an appointment to review the assessments.

- PSSA Math: May 2-3
- Each test session will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Pleasant Valley Elementary Testing Dates (Grade 3):
- PSSA English Language Arts: April 24, 25, 26
- PSSA Mathematics: May 2-3
- Each test session will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m.
McMurray Elementary Testing Dates:
- PSSA English Language Arts, Grades 4-5: April 24, 25, 26
- PSSA Math, Grades 4-5: May 1-2
- PSSA Science, Grade 4 : May 3-4
