The text message needs to say this and only this: @ela8brown (That's ELA for English language arts.)
They will text you back. If they ask for your full name; please tell them. That's all it takes to get reminders from Ms. Brown about tests, projects, quizzes, and other assignments. You do NOT need to download the app, but you can if you want.
Your phone number will be kept anonymous by the Remind company, and so will Ms. Brown's when she sends you reminders.
