The PTA Area Council is part of the Peters Township School District and District 9 of the Pennsylvania PTA. Our Council is one of only 35 in Pennsylvania. The purpose of PTA Area Council is to organize and develop goals and programs to promote the overall welfare of our children and youth in the home, school and community. We accomplish these goals by four major strategies:
- Coordination of Resources
- Exploration of Issues
Education:In education, we do such things as leadership training, parenting classes, community forums and workshops.
Coordination of Resources:PTA Area Council tries to coordinate the efforts of local units and / or provide a service the unit cannot do on its own. Examples are School Pictures, the Reflection Program, the District-wide Directory and many more.
Communication:Council provides opportunities to communicate with the School District, parents, the local units and the community through informative meetings and programs.
Exploration of Issues:Area Council tries to identify and research issues of concern within our school community and provides in-depth background information to all interested parties.
The voting members of Area Council are made up of the officers, local unit presidents, committee chairs and school delegates. Meetings are usually held the third Thursday of the month at 9:15 am in the District Administrative Offices. School Administration is present every other month. We encourage all PTA members to attend our monthly meetings to learn more about us.
