PTA Area Council
The Peters Township PTA Area Council is part of the Peters Township School District and District 9, Region 4of the Pennsylvania PTA.The purpose of the National PTA, the Pennsylvania PTA and the PT PTA Area Council is:
  • To organize and develop goals and programs to promote the overall welfare of our children and youth in the home, school, community, and throughout the community;
  • To raise the standards of home life;
  • To advocate for laws that further the educations, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;
  • To promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth;
  • To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and
  • To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.
Purpose of This Council
The purposes of this council PTA are to unify and strengthen local PTAs comprising this council PTA and provide for the conference, leadership training, and cooperation of the local PTAs in the council PTA membership in order to create a public opinion favorable to the interest of children, to encourage programs and projects in the various PTA units which will carry out the Mission and Purposes of PTA, and to assist in the formation of new PTAs according to the plan of the Pennsylvania PTA.
 
Meetings
The Peters Township PTA Area Council holds General Meetings once per month.Meetings are held at 9:15 a.m. on the Thursday following the PTSD School Board of Directors Regular Monthly Meetings in the Boardroom at the District Administration Office.The meetings are conducted on a rotating schedule where School Administrators present one month and District Administration present the following month.The schedule of meetings for the current year and who is presenting at each meeting is posted below.
 
Membership
Membership in the Peters Township PTA Area Council consists of local units chartered by the Pennsylvania PTA in Peters Township School District.The General Membership consists of the executive board, the president of each local PTA/PTSA or their alternate, delegates or their alternates as outlined in the Area Council By Laws, and standing committee and sub-committee chairpersons.

Voting
The voting members of Area Council are made up of the officers, local unit presidents, committee chairs and school delegates. We encourage all PTA members to attend our monthly meetings to help advocate for the welfare of children in our school district.

PTA Meeting Minutes
PT PTA Area Council Meetings are held in the Conference Room at the District Administrative Offices. Hospitality begins at 9:00 am with the meeting immediately following at 9:15 am. Although only Area Council members may vote during the meeting, all PTA members are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. Minutes are in pdf format.
