Revised Start Time for PTHS Effective Sept. 10
During our first two weeks of school, we have been reviewing our bus routes and run times for the High School and all schools in the District. Every year we create our routes based on changes in enrollment and neighborhood developments, and often revisions are necessary as we settle into the school year.

This school year changes were also made to accommodate later pick-up times and a later start for our High School students.  Prior to this year, our earliest pick-up times were around 6:30 a.m. and changes were made to move pick-up times closer to 7 a.m. so that our students could benefit from additional rest and increased daylight at the bus stop during the winter months. We accomplished this change by adding additional busses to the high school morning runs.

After monitoring District-wide routes and run times, it is clear that some adjustments are necessary. Next week, the High School start and dismissal times will be adjusted by 10 minutes. This adjustment will allow High School students to dismiss 10 minutes earlier while still maintaining the benefits of the later bus pick-up times.

Beginning on Monday, September 10, the following changes will take place:

  • The revised arrival and dismissal times of the High School will be 7:35 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. The website, bell schedule and PowerSchool will be updated to reflect these new times.

  • Some students who ride Bus 24, 39, 49, 406, and 422 to the High School will be impacted with new morning bus stop times. Parents may log into their parent PowerSchool account on Friday to see the updated information. All other high school busses will remain on their current morning schedule.

  • All afternoon drop off times will be adjusted in PowerSchool to reflect the 10 minute time change.

  • Students must be in their first period class at 7:35 a.m. Students who drive to school or are car-riders should adjust their schedule accordingly.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through these changes. If you have questions, please contact the Transportation Department at bidolit@pt-sd.org . Thank you.
