On February 20, the Peters Township Board of School Directors approved a new start time for Peters Township High School. Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, students in grades 9-12 will start their day at 7:45 a.m. (15 minutes later than the current time) and the school day will end at 2:35 p.m. In conjunction with the later start time, additional bus runs will be added to the High School routes. Currently, High School pick-ups begin as early as 6:30 a.m. With the later start time and additional runs, the earliest pick-up will move from 6:30 a.m. to near 7:00 a.m. All schedules for students in grades K-8 remain unchanged.
Additional benefits of the change also include later lunch start times for the High School and a shorter overall school day for our Middle School students attending High School classes, with no loss in class time.
This change is being made after several months of study by the Administrative team. Many thanks to our Transportation Staff who creatively adjusted our bus runs to achieve a later High School start time without negatively affecting after-school activities and the schedules of our other schools.
