Welcome Back Letter from Mr. Stoehr
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at McMurray Elementary! The McMurray Team is thrilled to meet your children and help to facilitate their academic, social, and emotional growth. We have some exciting elements to enhance your children’s educational experience that are new for the 2016-2017 school year.
Our renovation is complete, and we have a great deal to be excited about. Each of our homerooms has been outfitted with new LED lighting, a fresh coat of paint on the walls, new windows, new floors, new ceilings, white boards that replaced our old chalkboards, and a fully interactive 70 inch Aquos touch screen LED display for the infusion of technology into daily lessons and learning activities. Nearly every classroom is now a revitalized learning space.
Our PTA continues to offer tremendous support to our students, teachers, and school. The PTA is led by our President, Mrs. Catherine O’Neill, and a committed group of board members and volunteers that work to provide significant support, interesting programs, and fun events for our students and staff throughout the year. We truly appreciate the partnership that we have with them.
McMurray has a passionate team of teachers in place for the 2016-2017 school year. We have some members of our team that are new to us, some familiar faces returning, and some familiar faces changing roles. Ms. Wellek, formerly a long term substitute at McMurray for the past 3 years, is now our newest Enrichment Facilitator. New to McMurray will be our school nurse from Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Motosicke. Ms. Hayden will be replacing Mrs. Gans to teach German to our 6thgrade students, Ms. Gilbert will be replacing Ms. Slemmer in our PE Department, Mrs. Nachreiner will be starting the year for Mrs. DeCario, and Ms. Reinhart will be starting the year for Mrs. Doran.
Mrs. Seelhorst and Mrs. Stark will be joining our 4thgrade team while Mrs. DeSalvo will be transitioning to our 5thgrade team. Ms. Smith is returning to our McMurray Learning Support team. Returning to teach 4thgrade is Mrs. Scouvart and returning to teach 5thgrade are Mrs. Hanna and Ms. Taylor. In addition, Mrs. Fraticelli will be joining our Main Office staff and Mrs. Blasch will be replacing her as the newest member of our Guidance Department.
Rounding out our staff will be our new building technician, Mr. Pienkosky, and our new paraprofessionals: Ms. Wolf, Ms. Dunkerly, and Ms. Parks, as well as Ms. Fishell, our newest recess monitor.
