PTMS is a National Blue Ribbon School!
The
U.S. Department of Education has named Peters Township Middle School as
a National Blue Ribbon School. This year, 286 schools were designated as 2013
National Blue Ribbon Schools based on
their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement
gaps. The Department will honor the 236 public and 50 private schools
with their National Blue Ribbon School awards at a conference and awards
ceremony on November 18-19 in Washington, D.C.
“We
are so pleased to have the outstanding achievements of our students recognized
on a national level,” said Dr. Bob Freado, Middle School Principal. “We share
this honor with not only our students and current staff, but with the entire
District, community and the staff members who have contributed over the years
to our tradition of excellence in PTMS.”
The
Middle School was recognized among the highest performing public and private
schools as measured by their performance on state assessments. A total of 15
schools in Pennsylvania were awarded this honor. PTMS is the second building in the District to
earn this honor in recent years. In 2011, Pleasant Valley Elementary also earned this prestigious distinction.
