The Peters Township School District and Peters Township Federation of Teachers (PTFT) have reached an agreement that will extend the current contract until June 30, 2024. The new contract has been approved by both the PTFT and the Board of School Directors at their meetings on Monday, September 17, 2018.
The current contact is a six-year
agreement set to expire on June 30, 2021. In the new agreement, teachers will
see a $1,400 salary increase annually, effective for the 2021-2022 school year.
In addition, the new agreement includes changes in health care that financially
benefit the District while maintaining quality healthcare options for the
staff.
“This agreement helps us to maintain our positive relationship with the Federation,” adds Brad Rau, Business Manager for the District. “This extension is fiscally responsible for the community and positive for our teaching staff.”
The PTFT is made up of 279 teachers, counselor and nurses who serves the District’s nearly 4,100 students in grades K-12.
“This contract is a step forward for the staff and our community,” said Kristofer Bergman, 6th grade teacher and President of the PTFT. “We believe that everyone benefits from this extension.”
“We are grateful for the positive working relationship between the Federation and the District,” said Dr. Jeannine French, Superintendent of Schools. “This agreement allows us to continue our focus on quality education for our students.”
