What is strategic planning?
Strategic Planning is a management approach that uses a wide range of stakeholders to create plans based on assumptions about the future. The School Board approved the current Strategic Plan mission, beliefs, vision and goals on November 19, 2007.
How is a strategic plan developed and implemented?
There are six processes associated with the development of a strategic plan. An External Analysis* examines, among other things, social, economic, and demographic trends. An Internal Analysis* explores management and operational processes, organizational resources and future needs. Together the internal and external analyses indicate the current status of the district and provide the basis for a Strategic Direction.* The strategic direction is expressed in the development of goals and Strategic Plans.* The strategic plans are Implemented* by committees chaired by the administrative team. At yearly intervals the plan is evaluated* and the results are shared openly with the professional staff, Steering Committee, community and School Board.
*All steps in the plan involved board members, administrators, teachers, parents, students and community members.
What are the components of a comprehensive plan?
The Peters Township School District Strategic Plan will encompass goals set by the School Board, new Pennsylvania curriculum standards, state mandated plans for staff development and plans for the use of technology.
