Entry Directions:
All students are encouraged to enter their own creative entries into this year’s program. All entries must contain an entry form and 3 creative parts that will be used for judging: artwork, entry title, and an artist statement.
Students will submit the entry form using the provided Google Form listed for their specific school, which includes space for the title and artist statement. The entry artwork must be electronically submitted according to their school’s specific guidance. Physical entries for Photography and Visual Arts may also be requested.
ALL ENTRIES must include digital artwork, titled “Category (D, F, L, M, P, VA)-Division(PRI, INT, MS, HS, SA)-School Name-Student’s first name last name-Entry Title”, electronically sent to the school chairs using the link below.
If you have more than 1 entry in the same art category, in most cases, a unique title will distinguish the entries. If you have more than 1 entry in the same category with the same title, add a number at the end of the title for each additional entry to distinguish between them.
Music entries from students in grades 6-12 must also include notation OR a written reflective statement with a musically technical explanation (100 words or less).
If writing a reflective statement, consider answering these questions:
· What musical decisions were made to achieve the final version of the piece?
· How did you develop the musical elements?
· What equipment was used (if any)?
· What sounds and/or musical ideas were used to represent certain ideas or emotions?
· How was your creative and musical decisions influenced by your expertise, context, and expressive intent?
They should be submitted as a PDF file along with your artwork. Music Notation files should be named: Category(D, F, L, M, P, VA)-Division(PRI, INT, MS, HS, SA)-School Name-Student’s first name last name-Entry Title
Photography and Visual Arts entries may be requested; follow your school’s PTA guidance on where to drop off your artwork. If requested, the artwork should be mounted on cardboard or paperboard (like a cereal box) to prevent damage to any paper or prints. The student’s name should be written on the back of the cardboard. No frame or matting allowed.
