All 8th grade students have the same AR requirement (Please read the gold packet carefully for all rules and expectations):
To earn full credit, students must EARN 15 points worth of books in quarters 1 and 2. Check the number of points for the book, and you earn the points for the questions you get right on the computer test. For example, if you earn 70% on a 10 point book, you EARN 7 points toward the 15 point goal. Each quarter you may combine 1, 2, or 3 books to reach your 15 point goal. In quarters 3 and 4, if you meet that goal, it works like bonus because AR is optional in those quarters.
Remember that many books with movies are not on AR, including
Thirteen Reasons Why, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Fault in Our Stars, If I Stay, and series such as
Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, Lightning Theif, and others. NO LIT BOOKS count towards AR except
Tuesdays with Morrie. Please check your gold handout for other movie/books without AR tests and when in doubt, ask your ELA teacher.
